Suddenly, it hit me—I’d already parted with my little companion for a short while. My heart ached just thinking about it, but I decided to share my experience anyway.

I managed to resist all the tempting smaller foldable phones, but this year, I couldn’t escape the allure of Xiaomi’s sleek design and the incredibly high usability of its external folding screen. [Crying emoji] Eventually, my fingers betrayed me, and I placed an order without hesitation.

When the device first arrived, I was absolutely thrilled and wasted no time tearing off the seal. (My previous phone was an iPhone 15 Pro Max.) Just transferring data, especially WeChat alone, took nearly the entire afternoon. That night, after the transfer was complete, I spent hours studying every feature of the new phone in pure excitement. [Wow emoji]

But alas, my perfectionist tendencies kicked in. After a week of use, I reluctantly decided to let it go. Now, I’ll share some of the pros and cons that made this decision so difficult. [Facepalm emoji] [Facepalm emoji]

**The Good:**
1. During my time with the phone, I found myself using the outer screen far more than the inner one. I only opened the inner screen when I needed to capture landscapes or specific objects.
2. The outer screen is absolutely fantastic for scrolling through WeChat, Xiaohongshu, Douyin, or even reading novels.

The text is perfectly legible, making it a comfortable experience overall.
3. Selfies? Stunning! Thanks to the rear camera setup, they look natural and hardly require any editing. (Leica really knows what they’re doing!)
4. The signal strength blew me away—it’s noticeably better than my previous phone.

Plus, I love how you don’t need to open the phone just to answer calls—such a convenient feature!

**The Not-So-Great:**
1. First up, unlocking the phone. While Face ID worked well enough for me, the fingerprint sensor was a nightmare. It constantly triggered accidental touches, prompting me to enter my password repeatedly. Even worse, it would misregister touches when it did detect my finger.
2.

As someone who obsesses over details, I worried that frequent opening and closing might accelerate the appearance of creases. This made me hesitant to open the phone too often, and once opened, I dreaded folding it back up. Over time, it became a mental burden.
3. The hinge’s rubber strip kept mysteriously popping out.

The first time it happened, I panicked, thinking something had gone wrong with the screen. (Yes, I’m prone to anxiety.)

To be honest, Xiaomi’s foldable phone has countless advantages. However, due to personal habits, I realized I couldn’t keep compromising my user experience just to pamper the phone like a fragile porcelain doll. After a week, I gritted my teeth and sold it.

In conclusion, whether or not to purchase a foldable phone depends heavily on your tolerance for its inherent quirks and your usage patterns. For me, as much as I loved it, it wasn’t worth the stress. Still, having it as a backup phone would have been quite appealing—if only I didn’t already own several spares, which felt wasteful to hold onto.

Who knows? Maybe in the future, when I’ve mentally prepared myself again, I’ll reconsider buying another Xiaomi foldable. [Shy emoji] [Shy emoji] [Shy emoji]
