With the launch of the new Flod4 large foldable screen by Liangchang, I’ve been using my Fold3 for about a year now, and overall, it’s still pretty satisfying. However, after some reflection, I’ve identified its most prominent shortcomings:

① Battery life is just too short. Even with dual batteries totalling 4800mAh, it simply doesn’t last long enough. When I first got it, I could charge once a day; now, I need to charge twice or even 2.5 times daily. The battery drains so quickly that it’s on par with my other device, the Apple 15 Pro! 🚨 Hopefully, the Flod4 will bring improvements in this area.

② Camera performance falls short, which doesn’t quite match its status as a top-tier flagship phone. Compared to Xiaomi 14, there are noticeable differences. To be honest:
– Night shots are blurry, and even under bright lights, clarity is only勉强 acceptable. Using the professional mode results in images that are unwatchably fuzzy.

Highlights are poorly controlled.
– Colors appear washed out, with low saturation, making the photos look somewhat dull.
– Portrait action shots are also blurry, with heavy smudging and an overly soft effect.
– Some image issues can’t even be salvaged by post-processing algorithms. Xiaomi’s imaging brain definitely needs further refinement here.

😅
But then again, foldable phones aren’t exactly designed to emphasize photography, so I’ve learned to live with it. For everyday shooting, I tend to rely on my Apple device.

③ App compatibility remains an issue. Many apps either stretch awkwardly across the entire screen, show only half the content, or appear pixelated. Gaming interfaces especially need improvement, as this is one of the most direct and tangible aspects users experience. 👀

🎈 Of course, the Mi Fold3 has its own set of clear advantages: 🎈
① The screens are fantastic—both the inner and outer displays are sharp and vibrant. The inner screen, in particular, offers stunning clarity with minimal creasing, surpassing what many competitors offer. 👍

② After a year of use, I’ve never experienced any lagging. Even after upgrading to the Surge chip, the system runs smoothly. The integration between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the new OS feels well-tuned. 👉

③ It excels in office work, eliminating the need to carry a separate tablet when traveling. 🎈

④ Weight-wise, it feels similar to the Apple 15 Pro Max—not light, but manageable. I can easily type one-handed using the outer screen, and thanks to my larger hands, operating the inner screen with both hands isn’t strenuous at all. Plus, I frequently use the inner screen for tasks like editing images or creating spreadsheets. 😊

⑤ Having used it for a full year, I have to say I’m quite satisfied with the Fold3. The third generation shows significant progress and improvements compared to the second generation, elevating the experience substantially. And honestly, it holds its own against the fourth generation. With prices dropping now, it’s become even more of a great value! 😂
