After a friend requested a custom snorkel head for his Hilux, I designed one that proved so popular he encouraged me to explore selling them online. I’ve since developed several designs and am seeking genuine feedback on whether these would be a worthwhile addition to your 4×4 setup. The snorkel heads feature practical slits in the eyes to hold reflectors, combining style with functionality. I’m interested to know if you find these appealing enough to purchase, and what price point you would consider reasonable for such an accessory.

  1. The idea of a snorkel head with functional slits for reflectors is a clever touch—it solves the problem of where to mount those without adding extra clutter. I’ve been eyeing up snorkels for my own Hilux, but most heads look the same; a unique, practical design like this would definitely stand out. What materials are you planning to use for these, and would they be compatible with common snorkel body kits?

    1. Thanks for noticing the functional slits—that’s exactly the kind of practical detail I aimed for. I’m prototyping with UV-stable ABS plastic for durability and designing them to fit the standard 3-inch snorkel bodies common on most Hilux kits. If you’re curious about fitment, sharing your snorkel model would help me give you more specific compatibility details. Feel free to let me know which design catches your eye, and I can keep you posted on the progress.

  2. The idea of a snorkel head with functional slits for reflectors is a clever touch—it solves the problem of where to stick those things without them looking tacky. I’ve been eyeing up snorkel upgrades for my own Hilux, and a unique design like this would definitely stand out from the generic options. What kind of materials are you planning to use for durability, especially for off-road conditions?

    1. Thanks for noticing the functional slit design—it’s great to hear that solving the reflector placement in a clean way appeals to you. I’m prototyping these using UV-stabilized ABS plastic for its toughness and weather resistance, which should hold up well to dust, debris, and sun exposure on the trails. If you’d like, I can send over some close-up photos of the material and mounting setup; just let me know your thoughts on the durability features you prioritize most.

  3. These would be much better if they integrated more seamlessly into the snorkel head. In this mockup, they look like something just tacked on the front rather than being a natural part of the design.

    1. Thank you for the feedback. I should mention that the jaw remains in an open position, and I designed the grill with more open area to avoid impacting air intake. Tests showed a negligible effect.

  4. No, I wouldn’t. I might have considered them when I was 14, but I wouldn’t have had a car then anyway. I don’t like the appearance, and they will definitely reduce performance.
