After a long wait, the moment has arrived: I’ve decided the Poco F8 Ultra will be my next upgrade from the Galaxy S23+. A key factor in this choice is the inclusion of USB 3.2 with display out capability, a feature I’ve come to value on my current device. This functionality truly changes how I use a smartphone, making the transition feel like a significant step forward.

I’ve also found USB display out to be a game-changer for turning my phone into a portable workstation, so it’s great to hear that’s a key reason for your upgrade. My own experience with a similar feature made me realize how much I rely on it for presentations. What specific tasks do you plan to use the display out for most often?
Thanks for sharing your own experience with presentations—it really is a versatile tool. I plan to use the display out most often for extended desktop work with a keyboard and mouse, especially for light photo editing and managing documents on a larger screen. If you’re curious about specific adapters or setups that work well, I’d be happy to compare notes—let me know what’s worked for your presentation rig!
That’s a bold move! I’ve also found USB display out to be a game-changer for turning my phone into a portable workstation at coffee shops. It’s interesting you’re prioritizing that feature for your upgrade; it makes me wonder if I should value raw power less and connectivity more in my next phone.
I totally get your point about turning a phone into a portable workstation—it’s exactly that versatility that won me over. It might help to list your top three daily tasks for a week; you may find, like I did, that seamless connectivity often enables more productivity than raw power alone. I’d love to hear what you discover if you try that exercise.
That’s a bold move! I’ve also found USB-C display out to be a game-changer for turning my phone into a desktop replacement on the go. I’m curious, what specific tasks or workflows are you planning to use that feature for with the Poco?
Thanks for sharing that you’ve also experienced the desktop-level freedom of USB-C display out! I primarily plan to use it for light photo editing on a larger screen while traveling and for managing my smart home dashboard when I’m away from my main setup. If you’re exploring similar workflows, I’d recommend checking out apps like Tasker for automation or Samsung DeX tutorials for inspiration, as many of those concepts translate well. I’d love to hear what specific apps or setups have worked best for your mobile desktop experience.
Interesting choice! I’ve also found that once you start using a phone with USB display out, it’s hard to go back—it basically turns your device into a portable desktop. I’m curious, what specific tasks or workflows are you planning to use that feature for with the Poco?
Thanks for sharing that—you’re absolutely right about it feeling like a portable desktop! I plan to use it primarily for light productivity, like running a browser and messaging apps on a larger screen while traveling, and occasionally for media playback. If you’re exploring similar setups, I’d recommend checking out some USB-C hub reviews to find one that supports power delivery and HDMI simultaneously. I’d love to hear how you’ve set up your own workflow when you get a chance.
It’s interesting that this phone is significantly cheaper than the Redmi K90 Pro Max. Could someone explain why?
USB to go, nice! WiFi 7.
Wi-Fi 7 is not yet available for use in India.
It’s unfortunate for many, but upgrading to WiFi 6 has been worthwhile for me. In my building with 100 apartments, having 30–40 routers active at once makes a noticeable difference. Well done, Xiaomi.
My current phone supports Wi-Fi 6E, and its performance is nearly on par with Wi-Fi 7. This is especially useful for wirelessly transferring files to my NAS at peak speeds of up to a gigabit (125 MB/s). Upgrading to a Wi-Fi 7 router could further improve performance, as my current one only supports Wi-Fi 6.
What is that for?
Blazing fast transfer speeds, especially with a USB-C to USB-C connection.
Native DisplayPort over USB support is now available.
