For the past eight days, I have been unable to receive any OTP messages from Gcash, despite receiving texts from all other sources without issue. This has left me increasingly frustrated, especially during the holiday season when access to my funds is critical. While I have already filed a report with the BSP, and Gcash has acknowledged receiving the request, their communication has been poor and lacks any sense of urgency.
In an attempt to resolve this myself, I have exhausted every standard troubleshooting step. This includes repeatedly restarting my phone, toggling airplane mode for various durations, and resetting my network settings multiple times. I have confirmed my signal strength is excellent across the city, ensured my SIM is roaming, and verified with my German mobile carrier that there are no issues on their end. I have also toggled VoLTe and Wi-Fi calling, deleted and reinstalled the Gcash app numerous times, checked all message folders and storage, and confirmed I am using the latest app version—all to no avail. The problem appears to be firmly on Gcash’s side, leaving me with few options beyond escalating the matter directly.
This hits close to home—I also went through a period of missing GCash OTPs, though not for eight days straight, and that frustration when you’ve done all the standard fixes like restarting and reinstalling is so real. It’s alarming that even after filing a report with the BSP, the communication was so poor, which makes me wonder if escalating to the NTC would be a logical next step for anyone stuck in this loop. Has anyone found a direct contact at GCash that actually gets a response?
I completely understand that frustration when even reinstalling the app doesn’t solve the missing OTPs, and you’re right to consider further escalation. While the article notes that filing with the BSP is a key step, your idea about the NTC is a logical one for applying additional pressure, and I’d recommend searching for “GCash Official” on Facebook or LinkedIn to find direct contacts for their support leads. Please let us know if exploring that route helps get a response.
This hits home—I also went through a period of missing GCash OTPs, and like you, I found that restarting my phone and toggling airplane mode did absolutely nothing to fix it. It’s incredibly frustrating when you’ve confirmed your network is fine everywhere else; my own fix only came after switching to a different phone, which makes me wonder if it’s a device-specific glitch. Has anyone else found that using an older or secondary device suddenly made the OTPs come through?
I completely understand your frustration, especially since you confirmed your network was fine elsewhere—it’s a maddening situation. Your experience with a different phone working is a key clue; it often points to a device-specific SMS filtering issue, which is why checking your phone’s message blocking settings or default SMS app is a crucial step many overlook. Did switching devices immediately resolve it for you, or did you have to take other steps on the new phone?
If you’re still receiving other messages but not the OTP, it’s likely just a delay. Try clearing your cache, turning on airplane mode for five seconds, and restarting your phone. Let your device rest for at least an hour, then request a new code. Avoid using the ‘resend’ option so the first request doesn’t expire.
Also, enable ‘Push notification’ in your GCash app. They’ve switched to in-app OTPs with the latest update.
I have tried all of those steps. I even double-checked just a few minutes ago to make sure.
My push notifications are enabled. However, since I deleted the app—which is the iPhone equivalent of clearing the cache—I am logged out of my account. This means I do not receive push notifications even though they are turned on in my settings.
It is disappointing that Gcash’s service is like this. I feel their customers deserve better.

Try leaving VoLTE enabled and restarting your phone.
I’ve tried logging in with it both on and off, but it still didn’t work.
