  1. My 13-year-old and I finally had a shooter we could enjoy and relax with. Even if I had a negative performance, I could always find something or someone to learn from. It really was the perfect shooter.

I’m optimistic seeing how many people are still subscribed to the subreddit even after the game is gone. You hear that, Ubisoft? There was something special here.

    1. That’s wonderful to hear. I’m 23 and still wish my dad had played games with me growing up, or even now. It really was a perfect game, despite some flaws that could have been fixed.

  3. While Hunt: Showdown isn’t similar to XDefiant, it’s the FPS I’ve enjoyed most and played nonstop for the past few months. The closest game to XDefiant is probably Apex Legends, but if you experience input lag like I do, that’s not an option.

    1. I can’t stand BRs anymore, so I don’t bother with them. I can’t even bring myself to play RedSec—I’m just too bored of the genre. Still, I’m glad you’re enjoying Hunt Showdown.

  4. I’ve moved away from Call of Duty and don’t enjoy Battlefield, so I’m playing Overwatch and Fortnite now. I really wish there was a solid 6v6 loadout shooter available. With all the resources put into XDefiant, they could have created something worthwhile.

    1. Call of Duty is in a strange place right now. Most of the criticism I see about Black Ops 7 is directed at the campaign. I haven’t heard many complaints about Multiplayer or Zombies, but I also haven’t heard much praise for those modes either. I do play Zombies, so I’m aware of its strengths and weaknesses, but overall, you’re not missing out on much.

  5. I agree. The timing was unfortunate, launching so close to the first Call of Duty on Game Pass. Now Black Ops 7 isn’t generating much excitement, and many people canceled their Game Pass subscriptions after the price increase. It’s disappointing that they didn’t stick with it, especially from a company that has supported other titles like Rainbow Six. I enjoyed the game myself and only stopped playing to try other titles, always intending to return—I suspect many other players felt the same way.

  6. It might be controversial, but Black Ops 7 seems almost designed with XD as a potential competitor. It includes minimal skill-based matchmaking playlists, and the new maps have an XD-like feel. The movement system is also quite similar.

While many have valid criticisms of Call of Duty and Activision, I believe the open lobbies in Black Ops 7 are the closest experience to XD available right now.

    1. I understand your perspective. I only played the multiplayer during the beta and have considered installing the multiplayer pack to try it again, but I’m hesitant. If I do play, I definitely wouldn’t want to play solo. That said, I never had high expectations for the campaign.

  7. Are you me? I’m reading every sentence and it’s exactly what I’m thinking. I also own the founder’s edition. I’m not too worried about money since I’ve spent more on worse things.

I just hate Ubisoft for ruining my favorite shooter in years.

  8. I really loved this game. It was the perfect arcade shooter to play with friends, and nothing has matched it since. The maps, gunplay, and aesthetic were all top-notch. I just miss it.

    1. I really enjoyed it. The matchmaking felt organic rather than artificial, the gunplay was smooth, and the maps looked good and flowed well. The movement felt clunky initially since I was coming from Modern Warfare III, but it felt great once I got used to it. It had its issues, and I’m not ignoring them, but those problems would likely have been resolved by now if the game were still around.

  9. I’ll add that people complained about XDefiant’s netcode, but Battlefield has been significantly worse, especially since the Eastwood patch. It leads to many Alt+F4 moments.

I also watch some YouTubers for CoD content since I no longer play, and there’s constant packet burst in that game. Yet it doesn’t seem to be a big deal for many in the community, which is odd.

    1. I experienced some packet burst during the first month after the game’s release, though not as frequently as in COD. Before Season 1, it occurred every few matches but would clear up for a while before returning. After the Season 1 update, the connection stabilized. As someone who plays Black Ops 7 mainly for Zombies, I can say based on what friends have shared that you aren’t missing much with the Multiplayer mode.
