  1. My friend waited to have a child until he and his wife had done everything they wanted in life. When they were finally ready, she entered menopause a month later.

He left her, thinking he could find a younger, fertile woman to have children with. But by then he was in his late 40s and didn’t have the height, looks, or high salary that many women seem to expect today.

Now he’s single, alone, and depressed.

We’re on this earth for about 70 years, if we’re lucky. Don’t let opportunities pass you by—you never know what the future holds.

If you wait and the PS6 turns out to be a disappointment, which is possible for any console, you’re the one who misses out. What if a life-changing event happens and you can’t buy a console in a few years, or worse, can’t play at all?

There’s no guarantee you’ll even be here when the PS6 releases. It’s a harsh reality, but the only certainties in life are death and taxes, unless you’re extremely wealthy.

If you want a PS5 Pro, get one. If not, don’t.

  2. If you’re willing to spend $750, get the Pro and enjoy it. Otherwise, the base PS5 is a solid choice. Since the PS6 likely won’t arrive until 2027 or 2028, there’s no reason to wait.

  3. If you have the budget, go for the Pro, but the standard PS5 is also a solid choice. The PS6 is still several years away, and the PS5 will continue to be supported even after its release.

    1. I have a five-year-old Acer Nitro monitor that doesn’t support 4K, but it works well for me—I’ve even won a few local Fortnite and Valorant tournaments with it. I don’t think I need another display. I enjoy single-player games and have put around 150 hours into RDR2 alone. I never got to play The Last of Us Part 2 on my PS4 Pro, though.

      1. If you have a monitor with 120 Hz and VRR, especially an OLED, the Pro is worth it for 120 fps on enhanced games and superior 60 fps modes. Otherwise, since you’re keeping your current monitor, just get the base PS5.

        1. It depends on your current situation and patience. If you already have a PS5 and are satisfied, waiting for the PS6 might make sense. However, if you’re eager for enhanced performance and don’t want to wait several years, the PS5 Pro could be a worthwhile upgrade.

  4. I would choose the standard PS5 over the Pro. The standard model remains quite relevant, and most, if not all, games still look and perform well on it. It’s also more affordable, unless you absolutely require the best performance and graphics for your PlayStation games.

  5. Based on my experience, the upgrade from PS4 to PS5 was a major improvement, especially with the faster loading times and quieter operation compared to the PS4’s loud fan. I got mine early and can’t imagine going back to the previous generation—the difference is substantial.

If it fits your budget, I’d recommend getting a PS5 now rather than waiting.

  6. I’d recommend getting the base PS5, which Sony will support for at least another five years. Save the price difference and start setting aside money for the PS6. If you don’t have FOMO and can wait to play certain games later, you could hold out for the PS6’s release day. For casual players, there’s likely a backlog of games worth trying before upgrading. With an extra subscription, I’ve been enjoying many games available on both consoles. The jump from PS4 to PS6 would likely feel like a true generational leap, similar to going from PS2 to PS3. I recently replayed the entire Uncharted series and was amazed at how incredible Uncharted 4 still looks compared to current titles.
