The PlayStation 6 doesn’t need to be released that soon.
I’d prefer if they waited until 2030 to release the PS6. From what I’ve seen in PC gaming, developers don’t seem to be limited by current hardware capabilities.
Agreed. Unless the PS6 offers a significant leap, I’m perfectly fine waiting. Games already look great, and development cycles are much longer now, so I’m content with ten to twelve year generations.
Late 2029 would be ideal. It gives current technology time to mature and would likely launch at around $800 instead of $1,000.
Sony has no incentive to release a new console sooner than planned. They don’t profit from the consoles themselves but from selling games for consoles that are already in use. With no real competition from Xbox, they can simply wait and continue earning revenue.
