I’m sorry the moderators have had to deal with such chaos. Here’s to an enjoyable Season 5 premiere—we’ve waited too long to spoil it with nonsense.
Yes, thank you. We’re all here to have fun.
We understand, and thank you for everything you do. This is easily my favorite subreddit for any show because of the quality of its governance, the thoughtful members, and the interesting, authentic insights I’ve read and engaged with. We’re on board with Operation: No Mouth Breathers.
I like that name—it was a missed opportunity.
Thank you for being here.
If they continue with the over 20/unc comments, it could genuinely become a case of child endangerment.
As a newcomer, I’m really looking forward to discussing the show with everyone. I was just telling my sister how nervous I was to comment because people can sometimes be unkind, so I truly appreciate this welcoming community. Thank you for having me—I’m thrilled to be here!
Happy things and giving! 🦇🖤♥️
I’m sorry you had that experience with the fandom. There are many wonderful, thoughtful fans out there—I know quite a few—but unfortunately, the loudest voices have made them hesitant to speak up. I won’t let this sub be overrun by rude or aggressive fans. Everyone is welcome here as long as they come with good intentions, and that’s always been the case. That will never change.
Welcome to HawkinsAVClub! I hope you stick around, and happy Thanksgiving! I really love that. ❤️
As a long-time follower of this sub and other Stranger Things communities, I’ve found this one to be consistently well-moderated. While I love the show, the behavior you mentioned can sometimes make it difficult to enjoy. Thank you for taking a stand and doing what you do.
Thank you. We appreciate you.
Thank you to the entire mod team for your efforts.
Thank you for sharing this important update.
Thank you for all your hard work, mod team. I’m not active in many fandom spaces these days due to certain people, and I truly appreciate the effort you put in to keep this community respectable.
Thank you for always being here. This sub wouldn’t be the same without you. ❤️
Thank you to all the mods. To those who have doxxed or harassed them, your actions are unacceptable. Bullying is never acceptable and has long-term consequences. If being 31 and turning 32 is considered “old,” so be it. I’ve nearly died before seasons 3 and 4 aired, and I’d rather be an older woman than six feet under.
Thank you for this. You’re absolutely right—bullying is never acceptable, and its impact extends far beyond the screen.
If being in our 30s makes us “old,” then I’ll gladly accept that. Growing older is a privilege not everyone is granted. I’m truly glad you’re still here to enjoy this season with us. That matters far more than whatever insults anonymous individuals choose to throw from behind their screens.
You’re a very good mod.
I appreciate this positive energy and am looking forward to the premiere. I hope this post helps ensure everyone can enjoy it too. We’re all here because we love the show, and the constant bickering is exhausting for everyone. If we can’t maintain peace within our own fandom, I’m not sure what we’re accomplishing anymore. Thank you for everything you do—it means a lot.
If we can’t maintain peace within our own fandom, I’m not sure what we’re doing anymore.
We put a lot of effort into this community. The past few weeks have been particularly difficult, with mods receiving death threats and facing harassment off-platform—all over a TV show. We simply wanted this to be a safe, fun space for fans to discuss one of the greatest series ever. It’s disheartening to face such negativity, especially when I’m just upholding rules that have been in place for nearly a decade. It’s shocking to see and far from the supportive family we began with. I hate to admit it, but I’m relieved it’s almost over.
Thank you for your support and recognition. It truly means a lot. ❤️
I hope the next 24 hours bring enough excitement to overshadow all this noise, so we can return to some sense of normalcy.
Well said, thank you. I’ll be borrowing that TL;DR from now on.
Thank you, and please do. I meant every word of that.
Thank you for all your work. I’ll be unsubscribing for a few days to avoid spoilers while I catch up after Thanksgiving, but I’m looking forward to getting up to speed this weekend.
Edit: I understand the original post now. I was immediately downvoted for this harmless comment. I’m not sure what has changed in this fandom over the past few weeks.
It’s disappointing to see trolls disrupt the experience for everyone. Thank you for contributing to a positive community atmosphere. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Volume 1 when you return.
I’m not sure what the gif is meant to convey here. Could you explain your thoughts in words instead?
Here’s a reminder for everyone attending the ST5 premiere.
I felt the same way while writing this post.
Thank you for setting these standards. Sometimes I feel like I don’t even belong here.
Let’s practice some trust falls together.
