  1. The sales numbers don’t affect me much. I’m still a bit disappointed with modern consoles, though it’s probably better for my social life and wallet. I consistently enjoy generation 6 and 7 games I never played more than many new releases. There truly was an endless supply of quality games from that era.

        1. It’s straightforward: legally, you need to obtain a BIOS file for your PS2 model and dump your own games to play them. Some people have already done this and shared their experiences. A quick search on YouTube or Google will provide detailed instructions, but the process is quite simple.

  2. It’s more disappointing that Sony and Microsoft have struggled to replicate their past successes. I was a dedicated PlayStation fan from the PS1 through PS3 era but switched to PC gaming when the PS4 released. At least their recent missteps mean we now get to enjoy their former exclusives.

  3. It will be interesting to see how sales look after the holidays. The Switch received a price increase, so many people may opt to pay a bit more for a system that plays newer games in addition to regular Switch titles.

  4. As a PlayStation fan for nearly 20 years, this is the least of my concerns. My original PS2, PS3, and PS4 are all still in my closet. I even tracked down a PS2 slim last month and have been collecting games for it just for enjoyment. The console wars ended long ago.

  5. It’s strange to be upset about this. A current product outselling one that’s 20 years old isn’t something worth getting sad over. There are real tragedies happening in places like Sudan and Palestine that deserve attention. Focus your concern on meaningful issues rather than consumer culture. Your priorities seem misplaced.

  6. Not at all. The Switch felt like the second coming of the PS2, so it makes sense that it’s close in sales. It’s an amazing console with a great library and deserves to be at the top alongside another great console with an amazing library. As someone who is firmly in the camp of Sony and Nintendo for gaming, I feel this way.
