My take is that they will release on PS5 first. Then, when the PS6 launches, they will begin rolling out graphical enhancements exclusive to that console.
It’s likely they’ll delay it or release it as a bundled game with the PS6 at a higher price, then make it available on the PS5 since they’ve already mentioned they can just lower the graphics.
It’s possible they’ll release GTA 6 on PS5 first, similar to how GTA 5 launched on PS3 late in its lifecycle and was later enhanced for PS4. From a business perspective, this strategy makes sense—it encourages players to upgrade to PS5, especially with a holiday release. Delaying could maximize initial sales, and a PS6 re-release could follow with improved features like 60 fps, ray tracing, and additional details.
It’s possible they might delay it until the PS6.
No, they’ll likely follow the same approach as with GTA V: launch on the current generation at the time and then release it on the next generation a year or two later. So it will probably start on PS5 and then come to PS6.
The idea of Rockstar waiting for the PS6 is the most ridiculous thing circulating online right now.
No, it’s more profitable to release on PS5 first and then have people buy it again for PS6 later. That’s the same reason they’re delaying the PC release. How would Rockstar make more money by waiting until the PS6?
That’s a good point. They’ll likely follow the same strategy as GTA 5, releasing it first on PS5 and then on subsequent consoles.
I’ll be one of those people who buys it.
I was heavily downvoted for saying this shortly after the trailer was released. Many people who rushed to buy PS5s and Xbox Series X consoles after the game’s announcement will likely be disappointed.
I’ll wait for the PS6 just to be safe.
It was always going to be the superior version anyway. They did the same thing with GTA 5, which was a mess on PS3 and 360 with nearly unplayable frame rates during action scenes. The PS4 version was a night and day difference, but they charged extra for the upgrade.
Now people are falling for it again. Part of the reason they waited so long is probably so people would forget.
I bought a PS4 two years ago because I knew there wouldn’t be many games released for the PS5.
They won’t miss the opportunity to reach around 80 million PlayStation 5 users.
