  1. I was a senior in high school when the PS5 released. Now I’m in college, and I’ll be a senior again in the 2026/2027 academic year. It’s strange to think about.

  2. I was already out of school for over 20 years when the PS5 released. I bought mine on launch night, and it honestly feels like yesterday. Time really flies in your 30s and 40s. The PS5 will likely be supported until at least 2030, so it still has a good five-plus years left—it’s middle-aged now.

I expect the PS6 will launch around late 2027 or early 2028, with late 2028 at the latest, so we still have a while to wait. For context, I was a sophomore in high school when the original PlayStation came out.

  3. I was in the Italian equivalent of 9th grade when the PS5 launched in 2020, and I just finished school this June. It’s wild to think there are already rumors about the PS6. The PS5 felt so futuristic at release. My dad managed to get one of the first fat models in our region in November 2020. Now we have three PS5s at home, two of which are the slim model that came out in 2023, when I was in 11th grade. Time really flies.

  4. That follows the typical life cycle. The PlayStation launched in 1994/95, PS2 in 2000, PS3 in 2006, PS4 in 2013, and PS5 in 2020. There’s generally a 6-7 year gap between releases.

  5. I’ve witnessed the Atari, Intellivision, Coleco, Nintendo, Game Boy, SNES, Sega, Sega Saturn, Sega Master System, TurboGrafx-16, Neo Geo, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Virtual Boy, N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Sony Dreamcast, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation PS2, PS3, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Switch 2. Having seen nine console generations come and go, time has lost its meaning—new consoles arrive and depart as quickly as the seasons.

It’s surprising that all these released before GTA6.

  6. I was an adult, likely in my 30s, when the PS5 released. The PS2 came out either during my senior year of high school or just after. Before I graduated, most people had the original Xbox.

  7. I was in my first year of college when the PS5 released. Seeing all these responses from older users explains why so many posts complain about younger generations.

  8. I was in fifth grade when the original PlayStation was released. At the time, it was simply called PlayStation. The abbreviation PS didn’t come into use until the PS2 launched.
