When comparing the 47mm and 51mm Fenix 8 Solar models, I found both to be significantly larger in person than anticipated. With a wrist measuring 18 cm (7 inches) in circumference and about 6 inches in width, the 47mm version featured a face slightly smaller than my arm, though the lugs extended slightly beyond when viewed from above. However, this model felt somewhat chunky and thick, and the lugs sat noticeably away from my skin, making it less appealing from the side.
In contrast, the 51mm Fenix 8 Solar felt more snug but covered more of my wrist area. As someone accustomed to a thin diving watch for daily wear, the sheer size of these models was striking, yet I appreciate their utilitarian design. The challenge lies in balancing that functionality without feeling like I’m wearing an oversized gadget.
