I faced the same decision recently and chose the S25. In my opinion, Apple is only worthwhile if you’re already invested in their ecosystem. Otherwise, the S25 offers better specs than the base iPhone 17, with comparable photo quality. I’ve compared it to the iPhone 17 Pro and find the S25 sits between the base and Pro models, yet costs nearly $500 less than the Pro.
Additionally, the S25 is Samsung’s smallest and lightest phone at 6.2 inches, as they plan to increase the size to 6.27 inches next year. It remains smaller and lighter than both iPhone models, which are 6.3 inches.
If you plan to make vlog videos, Samsung supports 8K at 30 fps, which Apple does not, and their base model includes LOG video for greater color and detail flexibility in editing—a feature iPhones reserve for their Pro models.
Also, keep in mind that Samsung currently has Black Friday sales since a new model is coming out soon, making now a good time to buy.
If you’re looking for a larger screen, consider the Samsung.
In my opinion, the iPhone camera is the best because it produces more accurate colors. However, as an Android user since 2011, I personally prefer Samsung for its greater customization and tweak-friendly features.
A friend who works at an Apple store advised that if battery life is your priority, choose Samsung; if camera quality matters most, go with Apple.
Unfortunately, no small phone handles this well. For example, the iPhone 13 Mini has fast battery drain, and using a power bank while charging can cause overheating. It seems slim, lightweight phones don’t perform these tasks effectively.
It makes sense to use larger phones for better results. If you opt for a small, light phone but need to carry a power bank, it defeats the purpose of having a compact device for comfort. This is a common dilemma, and we may have to wait another 20 years for a slim, small battery with high capacity.
The iPhone 13 Mini’s battery life is surprisingly poor for such a small phone. I find it hard to believe claims of 7–8 hours of screen-on time; those seem exaggerated.

I really like Apple’s Dynamic Island.
