Save your money for new games and wait for the PS6.
If you can afford it, yes. Keep in mind that when the PS6 is released, you’ll likely get a higher trade-in value for a Pro model compared to a standard PS5.
If you have the patience to wait for the PS6, you might as well wait for the PS7, since it will be the most powerful PlayStation ever made.
It’s better to wait for the PS6. How many years until it’s released?
If you have to ask, then it’s probably not worth it for you.
I would upgrade if it were cheaper, but at the current price, I’d wait.
The decision to upgrade depends entirely on your display. If you have a large, high-quality OLED, then it’s worth it. Otherwise, it’s not.
Not all titles are PS5 Pro enhanced, so keep that in mind. While you can future-proof your setup, it may just be a case of FOMO.
I own two PS5s—one connected to my 65-inch LG C4 OLED and the other to my ASUS PG32UCDP 4K OLED monitor. At this point, I don’t think it’s worth upgrading to the PS5 Pro.
It seems like you might have misunderstood. The person wasn’t challenging your statement; they were just adding more context. Is everything alright?
If you’re considering an upgrade, it might be more worthwhile to wait for the PS6 Pro or even the PS7.
Upgrading from the PS4 Pro wasn’t really worth it, so I’d apply the same logic here. If you don’t already own a PS5, go for the Pro. If you already have one, only consider upgrading if your current console breaks.
Honestly, buying the PS5 Pro isn’t worth it. You’re paying double the price for only a 10% increase in specs, and it’s releasing right before the PS6. Just save the $400—in Canada, the Pro is $900 compared to $500 for the base PS5.
Besides, with the Xbox Series S limiting third-party games, you’d only be spending extra for first-party titles that can actually use the Pro’s power. That’s a really bad deal.
It’s uncertain whether there will even be a PS6.
If you have that TV, it’s worth upgrading. You can sell your base PS5 to recoup some of the cost—I traded mine to Amazon for $220, but you might get more depending on how you sell it.
I didn’t find the upgrade worthwhile. I’ll likely pick one up cheaply when the PS6 releases, particularly if the PS6 lacks backward compatibility.
I would recommend waiting for the PS6.
It depends on how much you can get for your base PS5 and how much the Pro costs. Personally, I think it’s worth it.
If the Slim is half the price of the Pro for you, which would you choose?
I would recommend upgrading to the PS5 Pro.
Upgrade now and sell it when the PS6 releases. You’ll still enjoy two solid years with the PS5 Pro.
If your TV supports 120Hz and you have the budget, the PS5 Pro is worth it. Otherwise, with a 60Hz TV, it won’t make much difference.
If I had a nickel for every time this question was posted here, I could afford to buy Sony.
Between that and questions like “How is the PS Portal? Is it worth it?” we could afford to buy Sony twice over.
Wait for the PS6.
If gaming is your main hobby, consider whether there are specific games you want to play that would benefit from the Pro. If so, it’s worth upgrading. Gaming is relatively inexpensive, so spending a couple hundred dollars on an upgrade that you’ll enjoy is a reasonable choice.
As someone with the Pro and an LG OLED, I’d recommend waiting for the PS6.
