The Nikon Z5II has finally hit the shelves, and I’m excited to give you a quick rundown of its key upgrades!
Compared to its predecessor, the Z5II brings several significant improvements. First up, the processor has been upgraded from the 6th generation to the 7th generation, resulting in an approximately 68% faster autofocus speed.

This is a game-changer for photographers who value sharpness and precision. Additionally, the legendary title of “burst mode king” has been left behind, with the new model boasting an impressive 14 frames per second (in RAW), bringing it in line with today’s top performers. The camera now supports Nikon’s Cloud Creative Color, which has almost become a standard feature these days.

Another highlight is the new side-flip screen, perfect for vloggers and creators who need flexibility. The EVF viewfinder now offers a brightness of 3000 nits, just shy of the Z6III’s 4000 nits.

On the video front, there’s a major leap forward. The Z5II now shoots 4K at 60 frames per second (with cropping) and introduces support for N-RAW, making it a compelling option for videographers. Even 1080p slow-motion footage is now possible. However, it seems the sensor remains the classic IMX410.

Despite this, Nikon has packed plenty of features into this release. Once I get my hands on the actual unit in a few days, I’ll share some sample shots. Personally, I’m particularly intrigued by the -10EV autofocus performance, so I’ll be sure to put that through its paces.
