DJI Pocket 3 Experience: A Female College Student’s Vlog Journey

Sharing my personal experience here—just for reference! I’ve been using it for about half a month now.
Let’s dive straight into the downsides:
1. The focal length feels limited, offering only 2x zoom. Personally, I love shooting portraits, but when you’re too far from the subject, the details get blurry.

Selfies turn out relatively sharp, but for landscapes, the lens feels too wide. You end up needing to zoom in constantly to frame your shots properly.
2. Prolonged use causes the device to heat up, and the battery drains faster than expected. On the bright side, though, charging is impressively quick.

During this trip, I also brought along my Canon G7, and alternating between the two devices barely sufficed.
3. Transferring photos and videos can be a real hassle. Adjusting beauty modes individually feels cumbersome, and exporting them is no picnic either. Your phone needs to stay connected to the camera, and the camera must remain powered on throughout.

What frustrates me most is that if you exit the app to reply to a message and then return, you’ll need to reconnect—and it takes precious time to locate the photo you just selected.
4. The protective case seems unnecessary to me. It requires extra care when carrying around, and even after slipping it into the official case, you still need to place it inside a separate camera bag you purchased.

Retrieving it becomes overly tedious. To be honest, I’ve already misplaced the official protective case [facepalm][facepalm].

Now, let’s talk about the upsides:
Selfies genuinely look fantastic. With sunlight, they aren’t overexposed, and the overall vibe is stunning. The results closely match what you see with your naked eye. Overall, I believe it’s worth the investment. Among cameras in its price range, it’s quite affordable and exceptionally lightweight. I recently got a strap and will see if wearing it around my neck makes things more convenient.
