The DJI Mini 5 has officially been spotted on the streets of China! While I’m excited to dive into a detailed introduction of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro in the coming days, my enthusiasm is skyrocketing for this sneak peek at the DJI Mini 5. This latest image suggests that DJI’s tiny powerhouse is currently undergoing testing and is set to launch in the summer of 2025. Let’s take a closer look:

It all began five months ago…
Back then, we got our hands on the very first glimpse of the DJI Mini 5, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you. At first glance, it was clear that the Mini 4 body would gain an extra pair of “eyes,” hinting at the future integration of LiDAR technology in the Mini series.

Moreover, I noticed that the motors on its arms appeared slightly larger than those on the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Could this mean a complete overhaul of the Mini lineup, culminating in the ultimate DJI Mini 5 Pro?

The DJI Mini 5 makes its public debut.
This is a moment many have dreamed of: a DJI Mini 4 drone equipped with a beefier camera, LiDAR technology, and more robust motors. But here’s the million-dollar question: Can DJI keep the weight under 250 grams? Or will this be the first Mini drone to tip the scales over 249 grams?
Take a closer look at the camera in this new photo—it seems even larger than in the initial leaked image of the DJI Mini 5. Is this the final product, or is DJI merely testing it around its iconic Sky City building? Could it possibly feature a 1-inch sensor camera? The possibilities are thrilling!
What surprised me most in this photo is the presence of propeller guards on the DJI Mini 5. Are these safeguards simply a precaution during the early testing phase to prevent crashes? Or could they become a permanent feature, making it resemble the Flip with its propeller guards? (Let’s hope not!)
When can we expect the DJI Mini 5?
As things stand, there’s only one event on the horizon: the highly anticipated release of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro on May 13th. Product images, videos, specifications—you name it. If you’re eagerly waiting for the Mavic 4 Pro, mark your calendars because it’s less than three weeks away! As for the DJI Mini 5, the official release date is penciled in for September or October 2025. So, stay patient and trust that something extraordinary is just around the corner!
