As a relatively new Helldivers 2 player with around 80 hours of personal gameplay, my experience is amplified by playing alongside my sons, bringing our collective playtime to roughly 240 hours. Across our sessions, we’ve encountered a handful of technical issues: the introductory sequence failed to allow skipping twice, I once became stuck in a mountain while exiting the Exosuit, and my son had to use a grenade to free himself after glitching inside a building. Additionally, frame rates often drop during hellpod loading scenes, and we’ve observed bots scaling mountains with unnatural ease.

Our setup includes five different machines, all equipped with SSDs and RAM ranging from 32GB to 96GB, running a mix of AMD processors and various graphics cards. These include a 3900x with a 6900xt, an Asus ProArt laptop with an rtx4060 mobile, a 5900x paired with an rx7900xt, a 7800x3d with an rtx3090, and another 7800x3d with an rtx4090. Each system maintains stable performance at 4K Ultra settings, with frame rates between 60 and 120 fps depending on the hardware.

Having played games for over three decades, I find Helldivers 2 to be far less problematic than some claim, especially when compared to notoriously buggy releases from publishers like Ubisoft and EA. For a €40 title, it offers consistent fun, regular content updates, and a battlepass system without pressure—allowing me to earn two passes in-game and purchase three others without regret. While minor quirks exist, such as occasional silent weapon effects, they pale in comparison to past industry issues like performance-hampering anti-cheat software. Overall, I believe the current discourse around performance and creator programs is exaggerated, particularly given our trouble-free experience across multiple systems.

  1. I’ve been experiencing a major issue with Helldivers 2 where my PC hard freezes during the animation when exiting the hellpod to enter the super destroyer, or sometimes while walking around the super destroyer before a mission. The only solution is to completely shut down my PC. This problem occurs only with Helldivers 2, and no other games cause it. I stopped playing a few weeks ago because of this issue.
